Vision Statement
The desire of the children’s ministry is to partner with parents to see the children entrusted to our care know and set their hope on God.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 )
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:1–4)
“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:14–15)
Mission Statement
We believe in children’s and student ministries at MCC because we believe they are helpful resources for the disciple-making of the next generation, for building them up to spiritual maturity, and equipping them to serve Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible teaches that parents are the primary disciple-makers of their children, so we see the children’s ministry as an effort to partner with parents to help their children hear and understand the gospel, and then grow and thrive in the faith. To this end: The MCC Children’s Ministry exists to partner with parents to see the gospel rehearsed in the home daily and reinforced at church so that the next generation might know and set their hope in God.
“Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments; and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God.” (Psalm 78:1–8)
Sunday Mornings
Discipleship Classes
9:00am
Pre-school, Sundays (Birth - Kindergarten)
Our Sunday morning pre-school discipleship class is studying “Jesus as the Savior” through the Show Me Jesus curriculum by Great Commission Publications. This 2-year curriculum goes from God’s work in creation, the life and work of Jesus, and the promises of God in scripture. Our goal in this class is to introduce our young children to the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.
Kids, Sundays (1st-5th Grade)
Our Sunday morning elementary discipleship class is currently working through the Biggest Story by Crossway. This 2-year curriculum will walk our kids from the book of Genesis to Revelation. Our goal in this class is to familiarize our children with the narrative of the Bible and to help them see how each book and story tells us who God is and what He’s done for us. Please click here for more information about Discipleship Classes.
Worship Service
10:30am
Preschool
Extended Session is MCC's ministry to preschool children during the Sunday morning worship time. Children Birth-Preschool enjoy a time of learning, play and care during the morning worship time that is designed to prepare them to join their parents in Corporate Worship by the time they enter Kindergarten. You are also more than welcome to keep your young children in the service with you. There is a Parent Room available downstairs in Room 1304. If you go down the stairs in the foyer at the back of the sanctuary, a preschool hall monitor will direct you to the Parent Room. Please feel free to use this room as often as you need it. The service will be streamed to this room so you don’t miss anything, but please also feel free to come back into the worship center once your child calms down. The goal is to train our children to participate in corporate worship. We don’t expect perfection, but hopefully, this is a tool we can use as we make progress.
CHILDREN
Corporate Worship is important to us at MCC. We love having children in our worship services and think it is extremely valuable for families to worship together. The Bible teaches that parents are intended by God to be the greatest spiritual influence in the lives of their children. That is why we believe that one of the most powerful tools in the conversion and discipleship of children is to worship with their parents. We encourage moms and dads to actively “Parent in the Pew” and intentionally train their children to participate in corporate worship. We also have a children's worship guide to help your child follow along with the Scripture being preached.
Sunday Nights - 5:00 pm (beginning January 12, 2025)
Awana Children’s Ministry
Awana trains children in knowledge of the Bible and putting it to memory. Kids will start the evening with scripture memorization and Bible teaching, then have game time and participate in an awards ceremony at the end of each night. We hope this ministry will lay a strong foundation of appreciation for God and His Word and enable them to grow in faithful maturity as Christians grow in wisdom. You can register for Awana HERE.

Rooted Student ministry
The theme verse for our student ministry this year is 1 Peter 1:13. We are called to prepare our minds and to set them on the grace that we have received now and will receive in Christ Jesus. We will be discussing what it means to think like a Christian, and ultimately, what it means to live like a Christian in our culture. Each week includes time in fellowship, games, prayer, singing, and teaching.
