The local church is God’s idea. It is the public gathering of God’s people in this time and in a particular place. The local church is the family of God (1 John 3:16-24), the body of Christ (1 Cor 12:12-31), the bride of Christ (Eph 5:21-33), and the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 3:16-17; 2 Cor 6:14-18). Therefore, we take church membership seriously.

become a christian

Becoming a Christian precedes becoming a church member. A Christian believes the gospel of Jesus Christ. Simply put “The gospel is the announcement that God has reconciled us to himself by sending his son, Jesus, to die as a substitute for our sins, and that all who repent and believe have eternal life in him” (J. D. Greear).

A Christian affirms what the Bible says about God, the world and us. First, we believe God rules the world in truth and righteousness. Second, we believe the world—including each of us—rebels against God and revels in our sins. Third, we believe Jesus Christ reconciles us to God when we confess our sin and receive his righteousness.

If you are interested in becoming Christian, or if you have questions about what Christians believe, we’d love to meet and answer your questions.

BECOME a Church Member

We believe God wants every Christian to become a covenant member of a local church. “A local church is a group of Christians who regularly gather in Christ’s name to officially affirm and oversee one another’s membership in Jesus Christ and his kingdom through gospel preaching and gospel ordinances [baptism and communion]” (Jonathan Leeman).

Oncer per quarter, Pastor Nathan teaches a three week “Intro to MCC” class to explain the gospel, describe the local church, discuss church membership, highlight our church’s mission and vision, and answer questions along the way. Attending “Intro to MCC” does not obligate you to join MCC, but we do ask all new members to take the class.

When you are ready to join our church, you may ask an elder about a membership. The elder will ask you to complete a membership questionnaire and schedule a membership interview. Once you complete the interview, the congregation will affirm you into membership. The process usually takes 30-90 days.

If you are interested in becoming a church member, or if you have questions about our church, we’d love to meet and answer your questions.
