The weather forecast for Easter Sunday looks cold and rainy. Therefore, we are not going to celebrate Easter on the lawn under a large tent. Instead, at 10:30am on Sunday, we will worship in our climate-controlled auditorium. The HVAC temperatures will be warmer than last week and nicer than outside. I am grateful God has provided our church with beautiful facilities.
As you prepare for worship on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, pray for our gatherings. Ask God to plant his Word, by the power of his Spirit, deeply in our hearts. Intercede for our family, friends, and neighbors who may attend one of our meetings. And pray for those leading Scripture readings, prayer, music, and preaching.
Also, note our meeting schedule. On Good Friday, April 3, we will gather in the auditorium from 7:00-8:00pm. Then, on Easter Sunday, April 5, we will gather in the auditorium from 10:30-12:00pm (no discipleship classes). No childcare is being provided on Friday night. Sunday morning will follow our normal pattern for all ages, family worship.
Then, prepare yourself and your family. Parents, please set clear expectations for your children. Friday night includes the Lord's Supper so talk to your children about the meaning and significance of the meal and who can participate. Also, please limit children running around the auditorium to honor our guests and to protect our senior adults from trips and tackles.
Lastly, expect guests to attend. Arrive a before 10:00am for fellowship and to welcome our guests. Make it a point to introduce yourself to guests, ask their name(s), help them find a seat, and guide them to the bathroom or parent room as needed. We are a welcoming church, and this weekend we are all greeters!
See you on Friday night and again on Sunday morning!
In Christ,
Pastor Nathan
